Harman Corporation is able to make many plastic products that are used in industrial settings during high temperature finishing activities such as powder coating, painting, electroplating, chrome plating, and anodizing. These products include polyester tapes, polyester disks, silicone flange caps and many others. These masking products usually cover raised areas or grounding areas around studs and holes. They are applied to a wide variety of items that undergo finishing operations.
The polyester masking products are made from a thin polyester film and silicone adhesive. They are highly desirable because they are easily removable. The silicone flange caps and other Kapton masking tapes are made from polyimide and silicone adhesive. They can handle slightly higher temperatures than the polyester masking products.
Unlike product protection plastics, masking products are usually used during production, specifically finishing operations. They cover sensitive areas that can't be touched during these activities and ultimately allow these items to be distributed to households or other industries.
