Harman Corporation offers dip molding for custom shapes and colors of plastic caps, plastic plugs, and plastic grips. The dip molding process has low-tooling costs and Harman's in-house capabilities allow us to create custom molds for specialized plastic caps, plastic grips, or plastic plugs in three easy steps:
- A metal mold is created by Harman's in-house CNC machine shop in the shape of the final part. These molds are then suspended from a frame which can hold a few large molds, or several hundred small molds.
- Molds are preheated before they are submerged into a tank of plastisol. Each mold may be dipped several times in different vinyl tanks to create the proper thickness and color layers desired.
- The new plastic part is cured by heat, cooled until rigid, and then stripped from the mold with a blow of compressed air.
Harman Corporation's custom dip molding machines have been designed to provide the utmost in versatility for small and large part runs alike, with rapid changeover and tooling flexibility. This ensures that no matter how many parts your job requires, we can make sure you get a cost-effective plastic cap, plastic grip, or plastic plug.
